How to play Neon Flush

1. 1Sign in, open the lobby and press Play to face a live opponent, or take a free practice game against the bot.
2. 2On your turn, play a card that matches either the colour currently in force or the value of the top card of the discard pile.
3. 3If you have nothing playable, draw from the deck.
4. 4Wilds let you declare a new colour, and the colour in force follows that declaration — not the printed colour of the card underneath.
5. 5Empty your hand to win.

Rules

• A card is playable if it matches the colour currently in force or the value of the top card of the discard pile.
• A wild is always playable.
• A Wild Draw Four is only legal when you hold no card matching the colour currently in force — it is a restriction, not a free play.
• When the top card is a wild, only colour-matching cards are playable. Value matching is meaningless there, because a wild has no number.
• The colour in force after a wild is the colour the player declared, not the colour printed on the wild.
• The deck and the hands are managed server-side; the client renders what the server says is in your hand.

Scoring — what decides the winner

• The match is won by the first player to empty their hand.
• There are no points to accumulate and nothing to bank — the win condition is the whole score.
• A ranked win or loss moves your per-game rating for this family of game and your trophy ladder.

Strategy and tips for Neon Flush

• Hold your wilds for when you are stuck. A wild played early just gives your opponent a colour to work with; a wild played late is often the card that ends the game.
• Before you declare a colour, look at your own hand. Declaring the colour you hold most of is how you keep a chain of plays going.
• Use your draw cards to stall. Making your opponent draw is both a tempo hit and extra cards they have to shed before they can win.
• Keep colour flexibility as long as you can. A hand spread evenly across four colours survives any declaration; a hand stacked on one colour dies to a single wild.
• Count what has gone. When a colour runs thin in the discard pile, declaring it is usually safe, and the cards you are holding in it become dead weight for your opponent instead.

Neon Flush tests hand management and colour planning: sequencing what you play, deciding when a wild is worth spending, and choosing a declaration that helps you more than it helps your opponent.

Can I play Wild Draw Four whenever I want?

No. It is only legal when you hold no card matching the colour currently in force. The rule is enforced, so the card will simply not be playable otherwise.

What decides which cards I may play?

Two things: the colour currently in force and the value of the top card of the discard pile. After a wild, only the declared colour matters.

Do I need an account?

A ranked game against another player does. A free practice game against the bot is available if you want to try the rules first.

Is it free to play?

Yes. Nothing is wagered and no tokens change hands. Competitive results move your Elo and trophies.
